Symposium

The Symposium is a fun way for first year students to showcase what they have been researching in their first semester at TAMUCC. Every student has a different learning community so some had researcher that involved different subjects and how it ties to their community. Other students would walk around listening and try to understand the research that has taken place.

In the first Symposium I worked with my partner Nicole Ivory with the topic of social media and mental health. Over time I learned how to work well with other people and work around a schedule made with others. Working with a partner in this project was fun and exciting. It allowed us to brainstorm with each other and understand another's thinking or working habits. This experience to talk to strangers about a topic I was passionate about and took my time to research. I see it as a skill I will keep because it is something I can use in the future to build my work experience. Symposium is something that is eye opening for a first year student. You can see all the other first years that also worked hard on their topic and gain information on things you would have never thought of. At the end of the day I loved hearing the feedback from the other students.
